Mobilizing means to prepare and organize troops for active service.
The United States mobilized and prepared for war by drafting men for the war, making guns, planes, tanks and also building ships. There were 1.6 billion people enlisted in the army by 1941.

Women during WW2
Women had a very big impact on the United States during WW2. They had to take over all of the jobs the men left behind. They did all of the men's jobs, such as, blast furnace operators, blacksmiths, doctors, lawyers, chemists, and lumberjacks. Even black women got the benefit. They had better jobs and they were more able to work. Rosie the Riveter was a cultural icon for the US during WW2. She was the representation of all of the girls going to work at their men's jobs while they were fighting the war.
African Americans During the War
During the war African Americans also played an important role. There were about 1 million black soldiers. Segregation did still exist, but there were no racial quotas in the armed forces. Blacks also moved into the cities to work in all of the factories as did women. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American men to be military airmen.
Japanese-Americans During World War II
